Phil Greenfield
I guess you could call me a jack of all trades (and master of none!). I’ve worked in publishing for 18 years in editorial and management roles and in that time I’ve worked with some inspirational people. The most inspirational are those who are open to new ideas and who are willing to take risks. For me the Costa Rica house building experience is about getting out of my comfort zone and opening myself up to a new challenge. Working in one area for a long time can make you stale so throwing yourself into a new challenge can have lots of benefits, including sharpening those motivational, communication and diplomacy skills. I also think you get something unexpected out of new experiences: who knows, maybe the Costa Rica group will work so well as a team we’ll end up working together on the next big Informa project. I’ve travelled a bit, contributed to various charities in the past, and done a bit of DIY, but I’ve never combined all three until now! It should be both rewarding and good fun to get out of my comfort zone and work alongside people I’ve never met before and achieve something permanent and meaningful. What can I bring to the group? I aim to be supportive, proactive, practical and committed.
